Old Thumper
Nose: Peppery, spicy aroma with hint of apples. Palate: Luscious balance of grain and hop in the mouth, bitter sweet finish with delicate fruit notes. Comments: Warm, rounded yet surprisingly delicate pale strong beer. History: Ringwood's strongest beer was first
brewed in late 1979 without a name, but a competition in the local
press inspired Joe Leedham from Broadstone, Dorset to come up with a
suitable zany suggestion! Although by no means our biggest seller
because of its strength and high duty cost Old Thumper is our best
known beer.
It has won many awards but is best remembered for being voted Champion beer of Britain by Camra in 1988.
Old Thumper is also available in a 500ml bottle. The bottled version
won gold at the British Bottlers' Institute Competition in 1996 and
silver in 1998.

come to mean 'Jolly' as in going on a jolly or if you're American going

of pubs but in 1996 was re-launched to the whole market and is
available each year from May - September.

XXXX Porter
Nose: Rich aromas of hop and toast. Palate: Dry in the mouth with burnt malt notes, dry nutty finish. Comments: Smooth drinking dark beer with delectable chewy malt character. History: XXXX Porter was first brewed in
Autumn 1980 in a revival of a style of beer that was produced in huge
volumes in London in the 18th Century. Although originally intended to
be a year round brew it proved particularly popular during the colder
months and is now a winter brew available from November - February.
XXXX Porter won Silver in its class at Camra's annual Winter Beer Competition in January 2002.
XXXX Porter is also available in bottles. In this version the beer
undergoes a second fermentation in bottle and is in effect a real ale
in a bottle
